General Electric Staff Software Engineer in San Ramon, California
You will be responsible for designing and programming a small module or a large component and designing a feature, set of features, or whole feature area. She/he will work independently and contribute to the immediate team and to other teams across business. She/he will Lead design discussion in a limited manner.
In this role, you will:
Work on the Predix Insights Platform engineering team responsible for developing and managing the Predix platform big data and streaming IIoT analytic platform
Develop high performance, low latency, robust, reliable, scalable and innovative IIOT applications and platform services
Support a 24/7 live production environments on a rotational basis
Debug, troubleshoot, and improve live cloud-based system
Work with customers to address their concerns and issues
Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques
Writes codes that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Build features such as web services and Queries on existing tables
Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using language of choice
Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse
Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards
Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum 6 years of professional experience.

Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
Knowledge of cloud and distributed systems
Hands-on experience in Go/Java programming language
Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, EFS, EMR)
Experience with Spark, analytic runtimes, big data, Kafka.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
Knowledge of Splunk is a plus
Experience with complex systems deployment on cloud
Experience with debugging and troubleshooting of complex systems
Experience with Unix / Linux based programming
Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems
Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts
Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems
Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
