Charles Schwab Investment Management (CSIM) is the asset management arm of the Charles Schwab Corporation, and has over $380 billion under management in mutual funds and ETFs. Products managed include a wide variety of active and indexed equity, fixed income, and asset allocation strategies, as well as money markets funds. The Schwab Active Equity Team currently manages over $7 billion in US and non-US strategies.
What you’ll do:
The Senior Quantitative Portfolio Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing the funds on a day-to-day basis. This includes, but is not limited to: portfolio implementation, risk management, holdings monitoring, and trade analysis. In addition the portfolio manager is expected to provide research feedback and have a strong understanding of financial markets. Lastly, the Senior Quantitative Portfolio Manager is expected to play a leading role within the team and be able to interact with senior management as well as clients.
Reports to: Jonas Svallin, Head of Schwab Active Equity
Other key relationships: Portfolio Managers, Researchers, Investment Risk Group, and Equity Traders
Work with leading-edge portfolio construction technology and optimization techniques to construct portfolios and analyze proposed investment strategies
Interpret attribution results for both portfolios and stock selection strategies. Assist with enhancement of in-house attribution systems
Research implementation techniques and conduct trade cost analysis
Participate in stock selection research and propose new concepts

What you have:
Bachelor’s degree required
A Master’s degree or PhD in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or a quantitative field a plus.
A minimum of 10 years of quantitative equity portfolio management and/or research experience
Strong understanding of practical methods for quantitative investing including portfolio construction, optimization, multi-factor risk models, back testing, and scenario analysis
Fluency in R, S+, Python, Axioma, Barra, and FactSet will lessen the learning curve
The Senior Quantitative Portfolio Manager thrives in an entrepreneurial team environment and should be passionate about working at the intersection of finance and technology. This key team member has outstanding communication and presentation skills and the ability to discuss and explain complex financial and mathematical concepts verbally and in written form.
