Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure in San Francisco, California

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to join Yammer's Discovery team in San Francisco who will shape the future of Yammer's discovery subsystems to enhance customer relevance and engagement.

Responsibilities

As a Senior engineer on the team, you will be responsible for leading both the technical strategy and project delivery, relating to discovery, which will include:

  • Architecting scalable, performant globally distributed and available cloud services, relating to the discovery technology stack

  • Deliver a set of features that increase engagement and relevance for our global customers

  • Building deeper integrations with other Office 365 services

  • Lead, both technical strategy and project delivery, related to the discovery pipeline, including:

  • Design of a modern technical stack which will leverage the Machine Learning infrastructure to build a performant discovery feed

  • API design

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • 5+ years' experience designing and delivering large-scale systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Designed and delivered global, reliable, secure, near-real-time systems scaling to audiences in the hundreds of millions

  • Deep experience leveraging cloud architecture and good experience demonstrating and applying site reliability principles

  • Driven architecture and design across multiple work streams

  • Proficient in the principles of Machine Learning and have practical experience in this area

  • Experience successfully leading complex, large-scale projects with local and remote partner teams

  • Working in a diverse and fun loving team, are passionate about solving challenging technical problems and love designing and writing great code.

  • Enthusiastic about partnering and working collaboratively with people across Microsoft

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. A requirement of this position, is to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
