A leader in transfusion medicine, the Diagnostic Division is a global business focused on providing innovative solutions to help ensure the safety of the blood and plasma supply, detect human diseases and monitor therapies. The division advances patient care with diagnostic solutions to improve disease detection and management, and simplify laboratory operations.

Member of the Global Marketing team and a contributor to the overall Grifols Diagnostics marketing strategy. Responsible to the Automation and Software team within the Global Marketing Diagnostics organization. Key responsibilities include building a customer driven enterprise that is focused on growing business across the Grifols Diagnostics portfolios and the entire blood supply value chain. This role is accountable for directing key initiatives for the entire portfolio of products and services of the division. This role is to be recognized as an expert of the current and future state of the market, the product portfolio, applications, and buyer behaviors. The Director of Customer Software Solutions will make recommendations to executive management concerning the overall diagnostics product portfolio life cycle based on market analysis, Voice of the Customer and market segmentation. These recommendations may include strategies for new products, new markets, or new product positioning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies the emerging information technologies, products, and services significantly impacting the blood supply value chain and coordinates effective introduction, assimilation and integration into the donor recruitment to donation recipient portfolio

  • Stimulate, surface, and shape business demand for IT products and services in the transfusion medicine and clinical diagnostics value chain and ensure the potential business value is captured, optimized and recognized

  • Strategically partner with business functions across the diagnostic business and other Grifols business units to leverage internal synergies to create solutions for external customer needs

  • Implement corporate strategic objectives by providing guidance and oversight and expert execution on projects and programs

  • Align strategic, customer-centric IT initiatives with business goals by partnering with the leadership team to develop and evolve a technology vision

  • Maintains and solicits external links to other companies in the industry to gain competitive assessments and share information, where appropriate

  • Identify, promote, and develop relationships with key vendors to form strategic alliances and mutually beneficial commercial agreements that drive innovation

  • Participate in industry and larger technology alliances to leverage new developments and trends; make Information Technology recommendations to Executive Team

  • Build market intelligence – be the expert on markets, trends, opportunities, customers, products, buying criteria, channels & competition with specific emphasis on laboratory automation software applications, data collection, workflow analysis, and performance improvement in the transfusion medicine and clinical diagnostics value chain

  • Drive growth through the identification of innovative opportunities, market understanding and strategic marketing that promotes the divisional product and service portfolio

  • Leads teams to develop customer/marketing requirements as an input to the Product Development function and to ensure specific market needs are addressed

  • Enhance sales enablement by communicating the value propositions of the products and services to the sales organization and customers

  • Provide structured product performance feedback to Product Development and Service functions

Organizational Relationships:

Position reports directly to the Director Global Marketing, Automation and Software and frequently interacts globally with Product Development, Commercial Sales, Regional Marketing and customers. Other contacts include external vendors, development partners, and commercial allies.

Job Specifications:

  • Requires BS, MBA preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in a successive leadership positions with a strong knowledge of contracting, negotiating, organization development, accounting, strategic planning, and supervision

  • 5+ years in an FDA regulated environment is highly desirable. Blood Banking experience is advantageous

  • Must have a working knowledge of or a demonstrated willingness to learn applicable FDA and AABB regulations governing blood banking and computer systems as medical devices

  • Ability to travel globally

  • Strong conceptual, analytical, judgment and communication abilities

  • Adheres to established quality practices while seeking to continually improve work performance balancing technological, operational, and customer requirements with financial and marketing needs

  • Demonstrated abilities in effective verbal and written communications, project planning, leadership, time management, and organizational skills

  • Ability to effectively relate technical concepts to non-technical audience and requirements to technical teams

  • Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple levels and functions in the organization

  • Highly skilled at creating business requirements documents, business cases, use cases, user acceptance test plans, process flow and data flow diagrams

  • An outside-in focus: outstanding end-customer relationship skills
