Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. Message from Dr. Bonnie Ann Dowd, Executive Vice Chancellor,
As the second-largest of California’s 73 community college districts, the San Diego Community College District serves approximately 100,000 students annually at its three, credit colleges, San Diego City College, Mesa College, Miramar College, and seven campuses of San Diego Continuing Education. The colleges and Continuing Education offer exceptional instructional programs provided by national and state recognized faculty and staff. The District maintains active partnerships with local industry, the community, the military, and other educational institutions to ensure students have clear pathways in order to achieve their academic and professional goals. The District and its graduates have a combined economic benefit to the San Diego region of $5.5 billion annually – 98 percent of the District’s students remain in the region after completing their education.
As a senior administrator in the Business and Technology Services Division, the Director of Fiscal Services is responsible for the development, planning, controlling, and organizing of the District’s annual budgets and audits. The Director is also responsible for administering and monitoring of all fiscal operational activities for the District. The Director is responsible for providing a high standard of visionary leadership and direction related to all fiscal operations and support services Districtwide. The Director of Fiscal Services’ position is at the same classification level as the colleges and Continuing Education’s Vice President of Administrative Services.
The Director works with all of the District’s campuses and divisions, the external auditors, public agency representatives, and the general public with regard to all fiscal related operations and reporting under the general direction of the Executive Vice Chancellor. Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, and extensive experience in budgeting, accounting, enterprise operations, or other business operations in a community college or other non-profit public sector organization of which at least three years are in a management or senior level supervisory capacity. CPA, CMA or related certification is also desirable.
Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your on-line application.

Conditions of Employment:
SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:
Submit “official” college transcripts as stated on application;
Pass a pre-employment physical exam at the District’s expense;
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the candidate’s expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment);
Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States; AND
Attend a new hire processing appointment in Human Resources located at the District Administrative Offices;
Employed on an initial contract of up to two (2) years that is eligible for renewal annually for up to a subsequent two-year period.
