Job Description:

The System Administrator is responsible for the hands-on administration of day-to-day network operations for a network of approximately 450 employees spread throughout North and South America. You will report to the Regional MIS Operations Manager and provide recommendations and insight on our IT operations and strategy. This job requires the ability and desire to learn new technologies rapidly on the job as well as you to be dependable.


The System Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining systems hardware/software and related infrastructure, as well as:

  • Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and standards.

  • Complete technical project as assigned, which may include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Perform routine system monitoring and availability of all hardware resources;

  • Monitor key processes by reviewing Event Logs (System and Application);

  • Create, Monitor and Verifying Company Backup:

o Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

o Perform and Test backup restore, archiving and purge as necessary;

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a scheduled basis (or as needed);

  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports BES infrastructure ;

  • Create, Update and Track IT Asset (Hardware/Software);

  • Maintain current documentation of operational procedures and configuration of Server Hardware and Software;

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning;

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required;

  • Work with the Team to solve 2rd Level Help Desk issues;


  • Maintain NOC Environmental and Monitoring equipment;

  • Work with immediate supervisor and other Team members on special projects;


  • Required:

  • Bachelor (4-year) degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science and/or Minimum of 4 Years of relevant industry experience;

  • Communications/Interpersonal:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with users at all levels;

  • Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people;

  • Regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues;

  • Provides technical guidance for other Team members.

  • Preferred:

  • Industry Standard Certification: MCITP, CCNA, Security

    • Experience with Lotus Notes Microsoft Office and SQL is a plus;
  • Ability to handle and resolve complex problem while becoming more proactive in identifying potential issues before they arise;

Working Conditions/Physical Effort:

  • Expand knowledge of existing systems within the corporate framework;

  • Identify trends or potential points of failure of interrelated systems and submit solutions;

  • Maintain and implement network backup and disaster recovery procedures;

  • Submit weekly status report to Regional MIS Manager;

  • Participate in weekly IT Team meetings.

  • Working Conditions/Physical Effort:

  • Responsibilities also require working evenings, weekends and on-call.

  • 10% Travel may be required.
