THEDEPARTMENTOFPHYSICALTHERAPYANDATHLETICTRAININGATTHEUNIVERSITYOFUTAHis seeking an experienced and established faculty candidate. The position is a full-time faculty position (Career or Tenure Line) at a rank commensurate with academic and scholarly experience. Primary responsibilities will be to serve as the Program Director for theCAATEaccredited Athletic Training Program (ATP) and to expand the professional education and clinical scholarship emphasis within the Department. A track record of administration of an academic Athletic Training Program is preferred.

The successful applicant will be expected to complement existing educational, clinical scholarship, service, and research initiatives within the Health Sciences (e.g., neuroscience, musculoskeletal) and Athletics. An active scholarly agenda is welcome and would be considered a strength. In lieu of independent scholarly productivity, the applicant should be able to demonstrate strong leadership, communication and collaborative skills that result in growth of or creation of intramural and extramural programs. As the Program Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for administering and maintaining the accreditation of the professional Athletic Training Program and guiding the program in the transition of the program to a professional Master’s degree offering. In addition, the appropriate individual will be expected to integrate their expertise via demonstrative interactions with entry-level and post-professional Athletic Training, entry-levelDPT, and Rehabilitation Sciences PhD students, including teaching, mentoring and serving on related committees.

The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is located within the College of Health, and is part of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. The Health Sciences Center is the major educational, research and referral facility serving the medical needs of Utah and the Intermountain West. The Center includes the Colleges of Health, Nursing and Pharmacy, the School of Medicine, University Hospitals and Clinics, the Health Sciences Library and related Core Facilities. In addition to in-house facilities, the College of Health is in close proximity to associated research entities at the VA Medical Center, the Clinical Neurosciences Center, and the University Orthopedic Center.
