The University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) seeks an experienced psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) who will serve as a Career Line faculty member to teach in thePMHNPspecialty track and maintain a clinical practice in his/her specialty area.

Principal Functions and Responsibilities: TheCONseeks an individual with expertise in the area ofPMHNPeducation. This career line faculty member primarily will teach in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in thePMHNPspecialty. Responsibilities include classroom and/or online didactic teaching, supervision of students in theDNPScholarly Project courses, and clinical supervision ofPMHNPstudents. The faculty member will provide input and feedback on student performance and progression in the program of study. Opportunities to teach in other areas depends on qualifications, certification, interests, and availability of courses.

Other faculty expectations include ongoing input and feedback regardingPMHNPprogram development, curriculum development, college committee service, and professional activities/service. Development of clinically focused scholarship is an expectation for long-term retention and advancement in rank.

The faculty member will providePMHNPservices within the College of Nursing Faculty Practice. The scope of practice is negotiable.

Criteria: Graduation with an advanced practice graduate degree with aPMHNPfocus from an accredited College or School of Nursing required. Doctor of Nursing Practice degree preferred. Master’s degree accepted if the applicant is in the process of earning aDNPdegree. Teaching and course development experience is preferred, as is experience in nursing leadership and administration, quality improvement, and health policy. National certification asPMHNPand current Utah licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with prescriptive authority required. Excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with patients and other members of the health care and academic team are essential.
