Responsibilities

  • Provide support to providers in the delivery of timely, quality patient health care services in a clinic environment

  • Provide support to patients for optimal service and care. May work in a team supporting multiple providers

  • Provide patient care support and assist providers as instructed by the physician, provider or RN

  • Room patients, manage patient flow and obtain adequate patient medical information/data

  • Receive or initiate patient phone calls and follow practice or protocol while gathering pertinent data regarding the reason for call or patient request

  • Actively engage in Team Communication, huddles or other activities

  • Schedule/cancel appointments for existing patients following standard practice

  • Clean, prepare, organize and re-stock exam rooms

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program that meets Allina Health requirements for education programs or

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program

Qualification/Skills

Experience

  • Prefer minimum of one year clinic Medical Assistant or LPN experience

  • Experience working with electronic medical records program strongly preferred

Skills

  • Utilize customer service skills in order to positively impact the experience of care for our patients, external customers and internal service partners

  • Establish and maintain effective communication and excellent customer service skills

  • Respond to various patient needs Communicate and work within a team environment effectively Perform vital signs, documentation, infection control, medication administration and emergency procedures (IE: CPR)

  • Maintain good organization, problem solving and judgment Follow all procedures and protocols for assigned work area Standing for long periods of time with some bending, stooping, and stretching Lifting patients to a maximum of 32 lbs. except in an emergency (i.e. patient falling) May lift items up to 50 lbs.

  • Keyboard and navigate within an electronic medical record work environment

Licensure/Certification

  • Current MN LPN licensure or

  • Medical Assistant: must obtain AAMA certification or AMT Registration within 12 months from date of hire

  • Non-Certified only through acquisition or grandfathered by special exception

  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Work Schedule

  • 40 hours per week

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 am-5:30 pm; schedule and hours may vary depending on needs of the clinic

  • No weekends

  • Will work primarily at United Lung and Sleep on the United Campus in St. Paul

  • May include travel to Coon Rapids clinic to work in pulmonary department

  • Will include travel to outreach sites to work with pulmonary and sleep providers as needed

  • Non Contract
