The Insurance team employs a holistic approach to covering the total client. The team’s consultative approach is rooted in a deep understanding of a client’s needs while simultaneously up-tiering the relationship at every level, especially at the C-Suite. At the core of the Insurance Teams’ approach is the engagement at the CIO/CFO/CEO level which firmly positions WFAM as a trusted advisor and strategic partner with our insurance clients.

Key to delivering this model is:

  • Know the client’s strategies, key senior leaders and the extent of their relationship with Wells Fargo

  • Maintain thorough, direct dialogue with clients, understand risk appetite of CIOs

  • Experience and understanding of general account investments for different types of insurance entities

  • Leadership of C-Suite level relationships to allow for cross-platform strategic dialogue with key decision makers to effect greatest level of desired change

  • Approach clients in a top-down manner: honor the positive aspects and work to improve pain-points in relationships

  • Move the client out on the relationship value scale from single product sales to a trusted advisor / strategic partner by leveraging all of Wells Fargo’s capabilities, expertise and senior management

  • Anticipate client needs and deliver appropriate solutions and innovative ideas

  • Understand and stay current on Wells Fargo's business strategy in order to drive firm-wide initiatives

  • Navigate and collaborate with key wholesale banking partners including Financial Institutions, Healthcare and Investment Banking

  • Deep top-to-bottom relationships throughout all of the key areas of Wealth and Investment Management and Wells Fargo, allow for the greatest level of advocacy and visibility of our key clients

This is a proactive sales role in which the individual must effectively articulate and position WFAM products, strategies and solutions while cultivating deep client relationships with all types of insurers including health, property & casualty, life and reinsurers.

This will entail a thorough understanding of an insurers general account assets including regulatory compliance, risk based capital charges and accounting rules. This individual will be able to lead the sales process from qualification, to opportunity, RFP (when required) to close, effectively leveraging WFAM’s extensive and complex internal resources. This role requires an ability to effectively identify, evaluate and communicate a wide array of bespoke strategies and solutions. To that end, this role demands a proven ability to coordinate and partner with consultant relations as needed, our 29 investment teams and the multi-asset solutions team.

The individual will have demonstrated an ability to lead new business meetings and close sales to mid-size to large, clients and prospects. The sales director must proactively position and differentiate WFAM from competitor firms and products. The ability to articulate sophisticated, concepts, ideas and processes to clients/prospects who may have varying levels of investment acumen is paramount.

This individual will have demonstrated an ability to navigate complex insurance organizations and build strong relationships throughout the entirety of the entity. The ability to challenge and influence key decision makers at the executive, C-suite level is paramount.

The sales director role demands a high degree of collaboration with our wholesale banking partners: Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking. The individual will also be expected to elevate WFAM’s profile in the insurance sector through broad, and frequent interaction with consultants, industry groups, leaders, clients and prospects.

One position is available, preferably residing in the Midwest.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of investment sales experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of investment products and services

  • Strong sales skills

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • An active Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

  • Registration for FINRA Series 7 or 63 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.

  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. In addition state registration, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA review process at the time of offer acceptance.

  • For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite may also be required
