This Position is within the Division of Architectural & Design Services at Mayo Clinic; the #1 ranked hospital in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. This critical position is responsible for maintaining and interpreting mechanical code documents, institutional standards and the requirements of Authorities’ Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to serve the departmental needs in a growing organization. Expertise will be important in serving as a department representative for review of technical standards and policies while applying engineering principles, building code and fire codes in designing building mechanical systems (chilled water, steam, potable water, HVAC, system controls, medical gases, sprinkler, piping and plumbing), for projects in new construction, remodeling and maintenance of existing systems. This expertise and technical support will be provided to many, including: colleagues, contractors, and internal and external designers. This position will provide mechanical engineering direction and plan review for a variety of outside A/E Consultants and is a leader in the Mechanical Technical Consultative Committee to provide technical expertise, opinions, and recommendations to Facilities Project Services leadership and Building Subcommittee on technical topics as needed while maintaining Mayo Standards. This position will ensures the continuous development and maintenance of the master construction specifications with professional signature of supervision, design guidelines, and reference standards for the mechanical for building construction projects.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college. 5 years of design experience with infrastructure systems for health care, high-rise and/or commercial facilities.
Possess in-depth knowledge of the multiple infrastructural systems within the Mayo campus and how the systems integrate with each other. Must possess a good working knowledge of fire, life safety and building codes for institutional, laboratory and medical facilities. Proficient in computer operating systems and computer aided design & drafting (CADD). Master’s degree in engineering or business administration, additional degrees or other certifications of technical competency desired.
License or certification
Registered Professional Engineer with the state of Minnesota.
