We are currently seeking a highly qualified risk assessment toxicologist to join our Regulatory Sciences Pre-clinical department as a Sr. Scientist II in Richmond, VA.
You will be responsible for the evaluation and judgment of the acceptability of materials, processes, and products based upon a toxicological assessment of internal and external scientific data for all product categories for Altria’s operating companies.How you will make an impact:
You will function as a critical member of the toxicology team, provide directed support to ongoing business development, commercial product, and investigational regulatory toxicology programming.
You will utilize relevant toxicological information to develop risk assessments for product/material evaluations.
You will present study results, program reviews, and relevant toxicological literature to other toxicologists within the Pre-clinical group as well as other health scientists
You will monitor the scientific literature as well as maintain and improve relationships with key opinion leaders in academia in the areas of tobacco use behavior
You will process and evaluate material, process and product review requests for a designated product category or operating company
You will lead and participate in cross-functional teams, providing scientific expertise while representing Preclinical and Regulatory Sciences
You will support regulatory filings and engagement of the FDA in support of Altria’s highly regulated business
You will participate in national and international scientific meetings and conferences to maintain and expand technical expertise
Specific Skills:To be successful, you will need:
Ph.D. or MSc in Toxicology or closely related field
Experience in industrial toxicology in the U.S. and international regulatory environments
Experience with applying predictive toxicology methods (e.g., read-across) and/or QSAR approaches to address toxicological issues (preferred)
Strong experience in risk assessment/analysis in a regulatory environment
Ability to analyze and synthesize data and develop meaningful insights and conclusions
Expertise in interpreting in-vitro/in-vivo studies to assess product safety
Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership skills and the ability to use those skills in cross-functional teams
