POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, the RN serves as a professional practitioner of nursing; caring for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Functions with minimal supervision and appropriate decision-making relative to patient care. Consistently demonstrates knowledge and skill utilizing the nursing process while caring for the acutely ill and non-acutely ill patients.

Provides care based on a knowledge of the patients growth and development and an understanding of individual patient needs based on age. Supervises and educates staff of equal or lesser grade when designated as a charge nurse.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing required.

  2. Current licensure with Virginia Commonwealth Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse required.

  3. Current CPR certification required.

  4. ACLS Certification within one year of hire required

An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
