This position is worked at C.M. Tucker Jr. Nursing Care Center at 2200 Harden Street 29203.
To assist the professional staff of the pharmacy department of the C.M. Tucker Jr. Nursing Care Center in performing under limited supervision paraprofessional duties involved in the practice of pharmacy. To demonstrate understanding, compassion and sensitivity to the geriatric population the facility serves. Assists in filling, labeling, recording and packaging and delivery of medication, i.e., cart fill, medication rounds, delivery, and computerized record maintenance. Review's monthly PRO's (Physician Renewal Orders) and flags problems for pharmacist review. Prepares, processes, and delivers resident medication orders including floor stock requisitions, controlled substances, and PH-21's (medication refills) for inpatient services. Assists with filling of pass and discharge prescriptions. Performs related filing and record keeping. Assists in the maintenance and inspection of the pharmacy inventory to include picking stations, shelf inventory, and onsite medication storage areas including monthly unit inspections. Repackage medications (Unit dose, bulk, etc.), assists in the compounding of pharmaceutical preparations and maintains equipment.
*This position pays $12.00 an hour.*
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement: A high school diploma and experience or training within the specific work area.
Agency Preferred: A high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in the care, storage and dispensing of medications or in transcribing physicians' orders for medications or successful completion of a pharmacy technician program. Must be licensed as a certified pharmacy technician.
