Laboratory Corporation of America Product Technologist (1st Shift) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

The Integrated Genetics and Integrated Oncology divisions are seeking a Technologist to join their Products team! This is a 1st Shift position, Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM -- 6:30 PM.

The Products Technologist will manufacture custom reagents used to perform a variety of laboratory developed tests, primarily in support of PCR/qPCR.This generally includes reagent batch preparation, packaging of finished products, maintenance of departmental QC records, and other duties as requested by department.Key duties include the following:

  • Monitoring use of raw materials

  • Preparing reagent batches following lab SOPs

  • Producing labels with lot numbers, expiration dates, and GHS Hazard Communication

  • Labeling and filling reagent tubes, tubes, bottles and cubitainers

  • Assembling and completing documentation for product lots

  • Preparing orders for shipping or warehouse delivery

Responsibilities:

  • Uses automated and manual lab equipment accurately; including limited maintenance and troubleshooting activities

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage time and work independently

  • Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical or unusual situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of the job

  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure

  • Ability to perform repetitive work or to perform continuously the same work, according to set procedures sequence or pace

  • Adheres to safety regulations, laboratory SOPs, and quality control requirements

Requirements

  • License/Certification/Education: Requires a B.A./B.S. in Biology or related life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of math.

  • Proficiency in a variety of PC software programs with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (and an emphasis on Excel)

  • Ability to operate a micropipette and repeat pipette

  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally

Experience with PCR and qPCR preferred, but not required
