What you’ll be doing...
The Intelligent Networking Manager will provide leadership to Verizon and its customers, guiding each into the future by being the foremost expert in leveraging the established and emerging (i.e. 5G and Cellular technologies, mobile computing, IoT, Virtual Network Services, and SDN) technologies to solve real-world business problems. They must also be versed in various cloud platform providers, leading manufacturers in the networking space, virtualization and orchestration technologies. They must demonstrate this expertise through individual actions as well as an ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional teams.
The Manager will work with internal stakeholders across multiple business groups to spur innovation and drive business growth through:
New professional service offers
Creative use of technology
Compelling Service Chaining
Network slicing methodologies
Verizon has a broad range of assets, technologies, solutions, and partners, which can be deployed, funded, and adopted in unique ways by our customers. As such it’s critical that the Principal Consultant is able to look across the overall Verizon portfolio and assist customers to align their desired business outcome to the appropriate business model, finance model, and technology solution set.
The Principal Consultant is responsible for working with internal stakeholders, IT executives, and Business Unit leaders as a trusted advisor/ partner to:
Manage cross-functional resources to deliver broad range of advisory, adoption, and deployment services.
Manage team of industry experts.
Consistently demonstrate the value of Verizon Professional Services by delivering highly professional and successful engagements.
Review and analyze current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives.
Identify and propose specific strategies, initiatives and remedies necessary to align technology and infrastructure with corporate objectives.
Support development of business drivers, business case and high-level program implementation plan aligned to a strategy to both maximize Client benefit realization and Verizon revenue.
Translate Client business issues/opportunities into technical solution/business requirements.
Build and communicate the value proposition of the end to end solution to client executives.
Collaborate with Verizon Product teams to ensure Verizon solutions are compliant with Verizon standards.
Partner with the bid management organization to build out detailed RFP responses and contract development.
Collaborate with presales engineering on strategic architectural planning to achieve goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future state architectures.
Act as a Thought Leader for the client’s business goals and vision via regular in-person and written communications with the client executives, agency/department heads and end users.
Develop and publish white papers showcasing Verizon’s innovation and thought leadership in the networking space.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have...
Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
Experience within a communications specialty (i.e. data communications, technical controller, satellite communications, cyber security, etc.)
Experience with software and application development, to include API integration.
Experience within network engineering and other data communications fields.
Experience in correlating business drivers and needs (financial drivers, impacts, and restrictions) into technical solutions, on proposed solutions.
Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have...
A degree or Master’s degreewith a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math).
Eight or more years of experience within a communications specialty (i.e. data communications, technical controller, satellite communications, cyber security, etc.)
Experience in solution design –ability to lead a design related discussion with leading questions to fully vet a customer’s requirements and develop a proposed design fulfilling said requirements, identify potential impacts of a given design recommendation, knowledge of other technologies and their network requirements/impact, ability to produce comprehensive yet understandable technical documentation (design document, diagrams, etc.)
Experience mentoring junior engineers while maintaining productive relationships with peers.
Experience in technical consulting/advisory/strategy position supporting Fortune 100 companies at multiple interface levels (C-Level etc.)
Experience with presenting technology strategies and market direction to Fortune 100 clients.
Financial analysis experience (ROI, cost analysis, business case development, etc).
Experience with any of the following: WAN optimization, Wireless LAN, Cellular, datacenter technologies (load balancers, datacenter switching, etc.), virtualization technologies and concepts (Hypervisors, orchestration, software defined datacenter, NFV, etc.), security appliances and concepts (firewalls, IPS/IDS, identity management, access controls, etc.)Demonstrated knowledge of, and interest in, emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, NFV, 5G, and MEC, with a focus on Enterprise use cases.
Knowledge of and interest in orchestration technologies such as Ansible, Napalm, Cisco DNA Center, etc.
