  • Provides all standard and special drawings to departments for all fabrication and production work that is needed for each project.

  • Keeps all job files updated and logged in the project schedule.

  • Maintains and processes change orders in a timely manner, delivering a quality product.

  • Communicates with vendors when there is a need for parts to manufacture the structures.

  • Checks and reviews work completed by co-workers to verify accuracy and to use as much standard and stock items as possible for each particular project.

  • Works closely with the Engineering, Purchasing, Estimation, Contracts, and Sales departments to maintain an efficient flow of work as needed.

  • Assists with and coordinates training for new and existing drafting department employees.

  • Assists with developing and maintaining department work procedures and standards.

  • Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, cleanliness and organization of assigned work area.

  • Contributes to a team effort by effectively communicating and working well with members of the Estimation group as well as other departments and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks and projects as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • 5-7 years recent Drafting experience, specifically working with steel structures and/or components. Sheet metal experience is a plus.

  • Must have proficient working knowledge of Solidworks and Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Programming in Solidworks and knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor is a plus.

  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast paced team environment on small and large group projects

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

  • Knowledge of steel shapes and sizes.

  • Must have a solid understanding of the AISC regulations, codes and standards that are required for structural steel layout and design.

  • Must have solid math background with extensive knowledge of geometry & trigonometry.

  • Must have professional and effective English verbal and written communication skills and maintain a moderate degree of confidentiality.

  • Position is in an office environment and will require working on a computer most of the day. Regularly required to use hands to work on the computer, finger, handle or grasp, reach with hands and arms. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to pass standard pre-employment vision test.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate‚Äôs degree in Drafting or related field.


  • Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, Overtime and Weekends as needed
