Job Purpose:

This is a software engineer role within the Risk & Data FXLM Technology team. This new role will be based in Pune. This global team is responsible for developing and evolving a cross asset ‘real time’ risk solution: Each developer is involved in the complete project lifecycle from requirements analysis and to design and implementation.

Job Background/context:

  • FxRD Technology is focused on delivering IT systems to the FX, Local Markets, Rates, and Derivatives Sales & Trading businesses. We have over 1000 people, with the core of our development effort based in the financial hubs of London, New York and Singapore. In all cases, we liaise directly with the trading and sales desks. We provide the technical expertise that enables our business to generate revenue. Several of our applications such as Citi FX Velocity and Trader Toolkit are leaders in their respective markets

  • The ‘real time’ risk (RTR) solution is part of the FXLM Risk and Data team, which is one of the most exciting and fast-paced teams within FXLM. This team uses cutting edge technology ranging from HPC approaches to compute, through to Storm, Kafka and NoSQL. This team is responsible for delivering state-of-the art risk and data technology for the FXLM business globally

  • We are looking to hire an experienced front office risk developer and technologist with a broad knowledge of different programming languages, patterns and architecture designs to take a hands-on role in developing new risk technology. This role will be a unique opportunity to bring front-office risk development to the region for FXLM

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of large scale projects through hands-on development and technical partnership

  • Development of concurrent, distributed systems with high reliability.

  • Continual improvement of the software development lifecycle and quality of the product

  • Ad-hoc and on-desk support of the production systems (a dedicated 24h support team handles 1st line)

  • Close interaction with Traders and Quants

Key Relationships:

  • Close interaction with Traders and Quants on the STIRT desk and FX Options desk to understand requirements of the real time risk application

  • Other FxRD Technology teams

  • Support Teams

  • IT infrastructure Teams

  • Equivalent of 7-10 years commercial Java development experience.

  • Distributed Systems Technologies – Messaging, Caching, Database

  • Experience with NoSql db (i.e. mongodb/couchbase)

  • Broad knowledge of programming languages, patterns, and architectures

  • Experience working in fast paced development environments.

  • Good knowledge of derivatives products, valuation, risk and trade lifecycle is highly beneficial

  • Understanding of computing science fundamentals – concurrency, algorithms, operating systems

  • Process and tools to produce well written low defect rate code


  • Good undergraduate degree in computer science or a similar discipline from a good University

  • Strong aptitude for analysis and problem solving; mathematical background is a plus
