Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer Manager -Tech for Social Impact in Prague, Czech Republic

Microsoft’s Tech for Social Impact (TSI) is an industry vertical team that works directly with nonprofits and the United Nations. TSI is mission-driven and balances social impact with the need to maintain a sustainable business model for how Microsoft scales digital transformation across the nonprofit sector globally.

The Tech for Social Impact Engineering team sets the pace across Microsoft for rapidly developing open source and purpose-built solutions anchored to the Common Data Model for Nonprofits and leveraging Microsoft Business Applications, Azure, and Modern Work capabilities. Solutions span across the nonprofit value map in the areas of constituent, donation, and award management, program delivery, finance and operations, monitoring and evaluation, impact, and analytics and enable partners to extend our development to finished and supported nonprofit products.

Your technical design, architecture, software solution engineering and leadership skills will be required in this role. Existing experience with Dynamics and Power Platform development is required; experience with Azure and SQL development is also needed. As the Software Engineering Manager, you must collaborate well with key internal and external leadership and stakeholders, grow and mentor your team, and deliver quality development on time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead solution engineering activities including planning, delivery, communication and mitigation of any risks to scope and schedule.

  • Own feature development and sustained engineering of the solution.

  • Provide technical guidance and work with engineers to deliver solutions.

  • Manage the performance and career development of a team of solution engineers and providing vision, direction, and supervision in designing, configuring, and coding prioritized solutions.

  • In partnership with TSI Industry Solutions leadership, implement a new support engineering practice focused on enabling rapid partner IP development

  • Build into the team the ability to provide tier-three solution support to Tech for Social Impact partners, including high severity cases.

  • Strong design and problem-solving skills, with a bias for designing at scale.

  • Deep experience working with and leading cross-global teams, 3rd party developers, and partner organizations with multiple stakeholders to optimize for sound design, quality, and valuable and usable functionality.

  • Collaborate with globally dispersed Product Management, Industry Architects, and leaders to develop long-range technology plans.

  • Lead discussion and documentation of lessons learned and drive continuous improvement and learning into development practices.

  • Great communicator, able to analyze, clearly articulate, and engage on complex issues and technologies.

  • Passion for working with nonprofit organizations and the accountability and drive to accomplish big goals.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant engineering leadership experience and a Software Engineering or Computer Science degree

  • Nonprofit expertise and understanding of business process challenges preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and build a results-oriented development solution engineering team working in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment

  • Relevant experience with distributed web application patterns, asynchronous workflows, web services and data structures

  • Experience with design and implementation of enterprise-scale services, incident management, process and task automation, testing processes, build process, configuration management, release management, and server deployments

  • Experience building industry-specific Cloud Solutions and Applications desirable

  • Experience delivering Dynamics 365 solutions throughout the Application Lifecycle from environment administration to solution patches and upgrades desirable

  • Experience using XRM programming and tools such as XrmToolbox, Postman and CRM Configuration Migration Tool desirable

  • Working experience with source code repositories such as GitHub

  • Familiarity with model-driven and canvas Power Apps, Power BI Dashboards and Reports, Power Automate and Connectors

  • Excellent verbal, written, and cross-team collaboration skills are essential to succeed in this role. Verbal and written fluency in English is required
