Armstrong Marine USA, INC Production Designer-Draftsman in PORT ANGELES, Washington

Responsibility : Design vessel components to meet customer, company, and regulatory specifications. Reports To : Engineering Manager Direct Reports : N/A Duties : Analyze proposal sketches, specifications, related data and drawings to determine vessel arrangements. Using computer models, design all elements (e.g., structure, equipment, auxiliary systems, and their components) of vessels to integrate the basic design features and the desired characteristics of the boat as a whole. Perform analysis and calculations to ensure design compliance with engineering principles, company quality standards, customer performance requirements, and regulatory specifications. Knowledge of / ability to perform naval architectural calculations a plus . Evaluate design changes and release revised drawings, as needed. Follow company procedures to properly document and notify Production of revisions. Serve as an approachable liaison between the Engineering Department and Production Supervisors, troubleshooting problems related to design. Inspect and evaluate projects, as required. Anticipate design data required by Production to ensure on-time execution of the Production Schedule. Complete work within specified deadlines set by the Engineering Manager. Create CNC cut files. Participate in regular/required Engineering meetings. Collaborate with the Sales Designer/Draftsman, as needed. Other duties as required. Qualifications : Proficiency in the use of Rhino. Proficiency in the use of other CAD tools will be considered an asset. Professional certification and/or degree in a relevant discipline. Strong attention to detail, spatial acuity, and analytical skill. 2 – 5 years relevant experience in vessel design/drafting. Familiarity with marine design regulations (e.g. ABYC, USCG) [preferred] . Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office. Must be 18 years of age and eligible to work in the US. Compensation : Pay rate DOE.
