Seegrid currently has an opening for a System Administrator. The System Administrator is responsible for the configuration and performance of Seegrid's servers, networking, and other IT infrastructure.
Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, virtualization, and cloud systems
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and system performance
Provide Tier 3 help desk support for advanced issues and requests
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of network administration, or system administration experience
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields a plus
Working knowledge of VMWare, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Linux Server (Ubuntu and CentOS), Windows Server
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols. Experience with Cisco Meraki is a plus
Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Ansible
A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
Strong knowledge of helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
Ability to absorb and retain information quickly
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and self-directed
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in order to perform maintenance during the off hours
