Seegrid currently has an opening for an Experimental Engineer. As an Experimental Engineer at Seegrid, you will be an integral part of or research and development group, which is tasked with both long-range speculative research and risk mitigation for shorter-term projects that involve significant uncertainty. This role will support multiple experimental teams by providing data collection, experimental design, and hardware prototyping support as needed. The successful candidate will have either an electrical or mechanical background, enjoy working independently, and be comfortable with rapidly varying responsibilities. Adaptability is key, as projects and domains will change on a quarterly basis. We can guarantee a zero probability of boredom! Work as an integral member of small, cross-functional research teams
Design and execute experiments to evaluate technologies, hardware, and other aspects of a given project
Construct experimental rigs to approximate the final form of prototype designs
Work with the team to create hardware proofs of concept
Collect and perform initial analysis of experimental data
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
OR at least 3 years of experience in related field
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
Strong sense of curiosity
Prior hands-on experience with either electrical or mechanical systems
Must be a highly responsible individual who can work independently with minimal supervision
Well-grounded with the ability to prioritize, multitask and independently problem solve
PREFERRED/NICE TO HAVE
Prior experience with robotic or electromechanical systems
Experience with the scientific method and practical experimentation
Scripting experience (e.g. Bash or Python)
