At MassMutual, we’re continuing to explore how to best adjudicate a Life Insurance Claim. As such, this role requires a willingness to be innovative and explore continuous improvement opportunities. This is a customer-focused role providing industry-leading service. You will work with beneficiaries, attorneys, trustees, executors, financial advisors, etc. through email, phone and written correspondence to adjudicate death claims.


  • Attention to detail is required to capture information, determine benefit amounts, review applications and any policy changes that have occurred during the policy history.

  • Review claim forms, death certificates and legal documents to determine when claim is eligible for payment.

  • Adhere to state and company guidelines to ensure our beneficiaries are paid or supplementary contracts are placed in a timely manner.

  • Utilize resources to approve claim for payment based on in good order requirements.

  • This is a customer focused role to ensure that claims are completed timely, accurately and sensitively.


  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are required

  • Must be able to balance empathy along with working efficiently and accurately

  • Overtime may be required either during the week or on weekends based on incoming customer demand

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

  • High school diploma required

  • Experience using Outlook and Word required


  • College degree preferred

  • Experience in financial services preferred

  • Claims experience preferred
