Belmont Behavioral Hospital currently has an opening for a part time Senior Admission Counselor, in our Access Center.

The Senior Admission Counselor provides telephonic triage and crisis intervention, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the crisis evaluations, 23 hour bed and inpatient admissions, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Links patients being discharged from the crisis service to community resources. Also performs telephonic triage for outpatient and inpatient services, and completes the patient registration function. Provides clinical oversight for the Senior Admission Counselors as needed.

The Senior Admission Counselor:

  • Answering phone calls and knowing what services are available and the criteria for entry into those programs.

  • Reviews clinical information presented by referral sources. Consult with Nursing, Doctors, Case management, or AOC as needed.

  • Enters all calls and referrals thoroughly and accurately into Salesforce.

  • Accurate registration of all PRS for services.

  • Verify all referral insurance information using applicable web based systems.

  • Give report to the receiving nursing station.

  • Responsible for physician assignment of all patients being admitted to Belmont. Provide notification of patient assignments to the doctor (including, insurance information, commitment status and unit via email and or phone call)

  • Obtain and document all authorizations for treatment. Entering the authorization in HMS and on treatment authorization forms.

  • Completing release of information forms and required consents for admission.

  • Complete and scan financial folders to case management.

  • Responds to web inquiries from Salesforce.

  • Complete vital signs upon PRS arrival to the facility.

  • Complete UDS, HCG, and Breathalyzer testing as needed.

  • Obtain PRS photos. Print and save them as needed.

  • Complete precerts as needed.

  • Calling to arrange transport to other facilities as needed.

  • Reconcile the census at the end of the shift or as needed.

  • Remove discharges as they occur.

  • Making room changes in HMS as needed

  • Complete required reports for the shift (including but not limited to shift report, midnight census, flash report, etc.)

  • Complete EMTALA log entry for each person to enter and leave the access center.

  • Responsible for the gathering of clinical information from patients, family members and other referral sources for the purpose of linking patients with appropriate outpatient services throughout Belmont Behavioral Hospital.

  • Making admissions packets.

  • Faxing bed availability to referral sources once per shift.

  • Reporting any and all safety, IT, or other concerns management as they occur.

  • Assist patient in completion of all admission paperwork. Management of hospital bed board.

  • Performs level of care evaluations for all crisis patients.

  • Reassesses 23 hour patients. Dispositions as needed.

  • Documents pertinent data including assessment, interventions, and evaluations.

Qualified candidates will be a Masters level social worker or psychologist with at least 3 years of mental health experience required. Excellent clinical skills along with experience in the managed care pre-certification process and level of care assessments a must. Assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with psychiatric mental health population. Experience with child/adolescent a plus. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Working knowledge of PC applications.
