Job Description Summary

As part of the Penn GSE Human Resources team, the payroll coordinator is primarily responsible for processing payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees, including staff, faculty, temps, student workers, etc.

Job Description

Duties:

Responsible for payroll functions for the entire Graduate School of Education. The incumbent will be also responsible for assisting with recruitment duties such as posting job requisitions, coordinating with hiring officers, and onboarding. Occasionally, this individual will assist with visa processing, organizing temporary staff hire requests through the temp agency, and processing POs/invoices accordingly.

The payroll coordinator serves as one of the main points of contact for employees regarding payroll policies and benefits. This position will also assist with a variety of GSE HR events and activities by providing event coordination (i.e. registration, follow up, room reservations, catering) and onboarding new hires.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma and 5-7 years of experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Required:

  • Must demonstrate high attention to detail and accuracy in processing.

  • Have experience working with sensitive and confidential information.

  • Must have strong customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience executing administrative duties successfully

Preferred:

  • General knowledge of FLSA (wage and labor laws) strongly preferred

  • Experience coordinating events

  • Previous payroll processing experience

  • Experience with Workday
