Primary Responsibilities:The Patient Access Rep performs outpatient and inpatient registration functions. Provides generalinformation to hospital users, patients and families. Ensures that patients meet financialrequirements. Provides excellent patient focused customer service. Communicates effectively toservice delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.Essential Functions:Register patients with accurate demographic and insurance information. Ensure proper search forpatients via the Master Patient Index. Ensure cash collection of co-pays and deductibles andcoinsurance. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of theHospital. Perform other duties as assigned by ManagerEducational / Training Requirements:High School Diploma RequiredSome College PreferredAdditional Training Requirements:High school diploma, some college, computer knowledge desirableExperience Requirements:Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret clinical or business account information,financial and legal documents. Must have the ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or complaintsfrom guests, regulatory agencies, staff and members of the business community. Must possess theability to write persuasive correspondence. Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data,establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must have the ability to deal with concrete and abstractconcepts and interpret verbal, nonverbal and written instructions. Clear, effective communicationskills.
