The Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist works between the Back Officeand Front Office. When performing duties as a Medical Assistant, this positionis responsible for assisting the physician/provider with all general medicineor specialized medical practice duties under the general supervision of thePhysician, Clinical Supervisor and or Clinical Manager. When performingduties in the Front Office this position handles incoming calls timely andefficiently, takes accurate and appropriate messages, assists and greetspatients/visitors in a friendly and courteous manner, checks patients in and/orout collecting charges as required
. EssentialFunctions :
Rooms patientsutilizing best practice MA workflow and maintains patient flow perschedule and anticipates patient care needs, huddles and consults withprovider as needed.
Documents patientinformation collected, care given and treatments provided as well ascharges in a clear and concise manner in EMR.
Assists withpatient phone messages/tasks and documents in EMR Conducts callbacks perprovider instruction in an efficient and timely manner, while maintaining propertelephone etiquette
Maintains CPR andother appropriate certifications
Organizes, stocks(using a PAR & trigger system) and maintains an orderly, clean anduncluttered work area, including but not limited to exam rooms, procedurerooms and patient care areas
Assists withprocedures and administers medications within the MA scope of practice andper provider orders.
Answers telephonesefficiently and timely: using appropriate follow through in screening andtransferring calls, Accurately documents and distributes tasks messagesaccordingly
Maintainsknowledge of computer scheduling functions, using proper registrationprotocols, editing existing patient data, and utilizing proper visittypes, maintaining knowledge of all providers schedules.
Performs generalclerical duties, including faxing, copying filing, distribution of memosand daily schedules etc. as needed 5%
Oversees the frontarea for cleanliness and safety, and continuous awareness of visitors
Maintaincompliance with Attendance & Punctuality Policy and proper recordingof hours worked
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of a state recognized vocation school or equivalent.
Medical Assistant Diploma
Current BLS issued by the AmericanHeart Association
Experience: Entry level with less than 2 years of experience as back office Medical Assistant.
High level ofcustomer service skills with a genuine caring approach to helping people.
Maintains apositive attitude with changing conditions.
Requires goodwritten and verbal communications skills to communicate effectively withindividuals affectively with confidential information.
Must be able towork under general supervision.
Must have aprofessional and mature demeanor.
Must be able towork in a fast-paced department and handle multiple tasks, work withinterruptions, and deal effectively with confidential information.
Preferred Position Qualifications:
Computer Skills: Preferred previous experience with computers and/or automated scheduling, EMR and/or IDX experience is helpful but not required; prior experience preferred in handling and balancing cash.
Other: Bi-lingual English/ Spanish communication skills is a plus.
