East West Bank is seeking a Director of Accounting. The Director of Accounting will identify and implement various process improvement projects in operations to support the Bank’s growth. Supervise, assist, train and mentor accounting staff to perform their jobs and responsibilities to meet the objectives and goals of the Accounting Department. Ensure accountability of the accounting teams. Develop and implement programs to support staff’s career advancement.
Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the accounting teams through direct interface with other departments, divisional and senior financial management, as necessary.
Assist and participate in the month end close process, including the reconciliation and certification of general account balances.
Review and analyze the Bank’s financial statement including fluctuation analyses of the general account balances.
Establish and maintain relevant accounting policy and procedures for areas of responsibilities. Ensure the accounting teams’ compliance to them and other bank-wide applicable policies and procedures.
Research and resolve system related issues through working with internal departments including operations and IT, and vendors.
Assist with research and evaluate accounting transactions and new accounting pronouncements, and application of those impacting financial institutions.
Review various internal reporting packages, external regulatory and SEC filings, as necessary.
Perform accounting operations related ad-hoc analyses and projects, including system upgrade and implementation as needed.
Banking/financial institution industry experience required
At least 10-15 years of public and private accounting experience
CPA license preferred
Public accounting experience preferred
Public company accounting experience preferred
Experience with core banking systems in relation to general ledger posting preferred
Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and concepts
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
Demonstrated strong attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated managerial and supervisory experience
Professional attitude and demeanor and the ability to exercise good judgment
Strong Excel skills preferred
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
