VMware Global Giving Program Manager, VMware Foundation in Palo Alto, California

Business Summary

The VMware Foundation is seeking a Global Giving Program Manager to inspire and engage VMware people in programs that strengthen VMware’s culture of service and support global communities inside and outside of VMware. The Program Manager will report to the VMware Foundation Head of Citizen Philanthropy. The position is located in Palo Alto, California.

As a successful candidate, you will have a strong grounding in the intricacies of global grantmaking and Service Learning in order to maximize the impact of VMware Foundation global programs, navigating nuance across the public and private sectors. You must be able to see the trees and the forest, as well as identify the interconnections that keep our fast-paced and ever-changing ecosystem thriving.

Job Role and Responsibility

Empowering VMware’s Global Community of Citizen Philanthropists

  • Guides and advises 25 global Giving Networks, representing teams, sites, or regions of VMware people focused on increasing awareness of and accessibility to VMware Foundation programs.

  • Creates resources to enable Giving Network Leads to thrive as multipliers of the Citizen Philanthropy approach and VMware Foundation programs, increasing VMware’s global impact.

  • Manages relationship with VMware Foundation portal vendor (single online portal that facilitates Service Learning, Matching Gifts, Milestone Awards, and Citizen Philanthropy Investments) to align the portal’s functionality with the needs and interests of the global VMware community.

Time-Bound Global Employee Engagement Initiatives

  • Project manages global Foundation initiatives throughout the year (such as Pi Day on 3.14 and year-end giving), monitoring and driving complex timelines and deliverables.

  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders to launch and propel programs throughout VMware’s global communities.

  • Aligns closely with Head of Citizen Philanthropy and Communications teams to connect Citizen Philanthropy program messaging with VMware’s culture, values, and mission.

Foundation Program Logistics

  • Manages vendor relationships in alignment with VMware Foundation budget priorities.

  • Tracks VMware Foundation budget with strategic guidance from Foundation team.

  • Manages VMware Foundation collateral (digital and physical) inventory and distribution.

Required Skills

  • 7-10 years of experience in related fields

  • Strong organizational skills, and understanding of program management and complex systems

  • Strong strategic thinking (foresee and plan next steps), communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to see the underlying causes and impacts of challenges and problem-solve solutions

  • Impeccable reputation for integrity and accountability

  • Ability to work across cultures and with diverse communities, including across global time zones

  • Loves details and can prioritize without getting lost in the weeds

  • Comfort navigating and learning technical tools and applications effectively and efficiently

  • Creative, positive, and team-oriented

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of and experience with the nonprofit sector, especially international vetting and grantmaking requirements and best practices

  • Take initiative to drive towards goals and deliverables, aligning disparate stakeholders

  • Curiosity and a quest for lifelong learning

  • Open-mindedness and humility; actively suppressing bias and non-judgmentally guiding others on their personal giving journeys
