Senior Medical Physicist – Physics and Dosimetry – Orlando

Florida Hospital seeks to hire a Senior Medical Physicist who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed Florida Hospital Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. Work Hours/Shifts:

Monday – Friday; 8a – 5p

Job Summary:

Participates in the quality care of our patients by providing medical physics services at or above the State of Florida and federal requirements as well as meeting any national standards of care in radiation oncology. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful of all.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, & Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic medical physics

  • Effective communication skills

  • Knowledge of computers and networking

  • Knowledge of electronics (Preferred)

  • Minimum of five years of clinical radiation therapy physics’ experience

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Current active State of Florida licensure in Therapeutic Medical Physics

  • Current certification by the American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics in Therapeutic Medical Physics

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports the administration of the radiation safety program, including compliance with all regulating and certifying agencies, training of staff and supervision of source ordering, handling, waste removal and disposal.

  • Actively participates in developing new programs and technologies such as information management, treatment planning and new modalities.

  • Performs weekly chart reviews and other checks of treatment plans

  • Performs dosimetric calculations for external beam, brachytherapy and radiopharma-ceutical therapy.

  • Provides medical physics consultation to physicians, staff and patients as needed.

  • Participates in the quality assurance of linear accelerators, simulators, HDR units and any other radiation therapy treatment device.

  • Performs acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment.

  • Assists in physics coverage of other Florida Hospital Radiation Oncology locations as directed by Chief Physicist.

  • Provides clinical supervision of dosimetrists and medical physicists and participates in their annual evaluations.

  • Provides treatment coverage as outlined by Federal and State regulation and department SOP.

  • Transport and move patients and equipment as needed in performance of assigned duties

  • Prepares patient treatment planning related data as requested from authorization for release of protected health information records release.
