YMCA of Greater Omaha Summer Day Camp Manager in Omaha, Nebraska

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Summer Day Camp Manager supports the potential of all youth by leading day-to-day operations of Summer Day Camp ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Camp begins May 28th with training starting in April and runs until the start of the new school year.

  • Assists in the recruitment, hiring, training, coordination and scheduling of all Summer Day Camp staff.

  • Assists Summer Day Camp Director with financial responsibilities as needed.

  • Supports SDC Director in planning and implementation of program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.

  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.

  • Attends/Facilitates staff meetings and trainings.

  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

  • Actively participates in department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must meet state licensing requirements to act as SDC Director as needed

  • At Least 18 years of age

  • At least 1 year experience in supervision, customer service, education or equivalent field

  • Previous experience working with children aged 4-12 years, preferably in a day camp setting

  • Ability to supervise and play with children in a pool setting required

  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours

  • Demonstrated success working independently with attention to detail required

  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games or art

  • Complete before first shift: program-specific training

  • Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; Child Abuse Prevention Training, BLS CPR/AED/First Aid and Oxygen Administration

  • Must meet annual training hour requirements for duration of position

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of

the community and successful clearance of background check
