We enable public agencies to better serve the people of Washington through technology. The Secure Gateways Engineer will work for the SecureAccess Washington team. Their main work purpose is to maintain the infrastructure supporting single sign-on for Washington state citizens to state services, identify deficiencies in processes, and champion solutions to those deficiencies! As a Secure Gateway Engineer, you would be supporting the secure channels into the State Government Network. This position builds and maintains infrastructure and monitoring of the systems in support of SecureAccess Washington (https://secureaccess.wa.gov), interacting with the public as Tier II support for more complex SecureAccess Washington issues. When opportunity arises, this position may discover and implement controls that increase performance and reliability. Configures virtual machine server templates, follows guidance for securing systems according to best practice recommendations, and applies all updates and upgrades. Working closely with implementation teams to help them understand business goals and outcomes for the customers. This can be in the form of business requirements, visual diagrams, prototypes and various other forms of documentation. Performs complex analysis and troubleshooting of Linux operating systems, proxy servers, directory service technologies and related protocols (i.e. LDAP). Reacts to security alerts and vulnerabilities in a timely and efficient manner. Exercising your autonomy as an individual contributor to make recommendations or advance projects! Here's What We Are Looking For: Most importantly, we are looking for someone who wants to make a difference and identifies strongly with our mission. We are the single sign-on identity provider for state services. More than five million people use our service to access over 200 services. A self-starter with a great attitude will feel at home on this team. Three (3) years of experience with VMware. Three (3) years of experience in Linux (e.g. SUSE or Redhat) administration and support. Two (2) years of experience with reverse proxy administration and support. Three (3) years of experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems, applications or databases.
