Entry to mid-career level candidates urged to also apply.The buyer is responsible for selecting suppliers, negotiating prices and payment terms, and making purchase commitments for the assigned services and/or materials. The buyer supports all production manufacturing activities, utilizing the MRP system. They also purchase all materials, products, and services for the company. This individual generates and places purchase orders with suppliers and vendors. This position coordinates the purchase of raw materials to meet production plans and/or project timelines. They identify cost reduction opportunities by working directly with suppliers or identifying alternatives/competitive sources. Primary Roles and Responsibilities: Performs procurement functions within the guidelines of the company's policies, standard operating procedures and departmental procedures Develops and implements commodity strategic plans and objectives focused on supporting the company's current and long-term goals or needs Coordinates the purchase of materials, products and services, to support production activities and/or development teams as assigned. Plan, purchase and manage material inventory levels. Responsible for generating purchase orders and routing for approval. Places orders with vendors and suppliers and tracks confirmations and expedites supplier deliveries and conducts follow-ups Identify alternate sources for materials. Negotiate prices and supply contracts. Resolves invoicing issues between supplier and company accounting function Manage supplier corrective action activities Coordinate WIP activities. Works within the MRP system to insure the accuracy of costs, lead times, and revisions. Maintains records as required by the Quality System. Works with development teams on program transitions from development to production part. Works individually and in teams for continuous improvement of internal and external processes and/or factors that affect quality, delivery, service, inventory levels and cost/price. Maintains metrics for production and/or supplier Develops and manage relationships with assigned suppliers to establish reliable supply source for the company. Routinely communicate information on supplier shipments, process improvement team activities, commodity-pricing trends and other relevant events and/or issues. Skills & Experience Required: Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree 1-2 years of work experience within a purchasing / supply chain role preferred. Global procurement experience would be a plus, but not necessary Good organizational skills Effective communication skills Good negotiating skills Highly motivated individual, able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently College graduate preferred MRP system software experience
