University of Notre Dame Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant in Notre Dame, Indiana
The Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant focuses on two aspects of work: first, perform bench experiments and animal studies to advance cancer research projects in the lab; second, coordinate and manage research and logistic activities in the lab to ensure the smooth running of the lab. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining supply levels and safety standards in the laboratory as well as for training other personnel in special techniques. Other responsibilities include but not limited to: performing mouse studies including genotyping; purchase orders of lab suppliers and maintenance instruments through effective communication with vendors; developing standard protocols for other lab members to follow. The position requires independent decision making, judgment and organizational skills, and plays a crucial role in determining the effective and efficient use of resources, time, and facilities for successful extraction of research results.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. At least 2 years of experience.
Three aspects are highly preferred: 1) basic molecular and biochemical techniques; 2) experiences in mouse models; 3) experience in lab coordination and navigation through the department and university.
