Post Holdings Master Electrician in Northfield, Minnesota

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The purpose of this job is to maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. ​ Support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required through SQF and our Construction and Repair process. ​ Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety and environmental practices.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

  • Installs repairs and replaces electrical equipment. Monitors electrical equipment to avoid hazards, make adjustments, or replace as necessary.

  • Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.

  • Repairs and maintains motor control centers and distribution panels

  • Maintains Electrical distribution services program including scheduling and record keeping.

  • Maintains Electric Motor program both AC and DC and acts as the subject matter expert.

  • Maintains Variable Frequency Drive program and acts as the SME for the plant.

  • Plans and documents electrical additions and modifications.

  • Performs all types of electrical work.

  • Understands, stays current with NFPA 70E. This includes; Safety related Work Practices; identifying electrical hazards; Safety related Maintenance Requirements; Personal and protective equipment.

  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Work in a team environment with strong communication skills while focused on customer service.

  • Ability to lead a team to compete the installation and upgrades of electrical products

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, overtime and on-call as needed.

  • Manual dexterity for delicate work. Frequently stoop, squat, twist, reach, climb stairs while performing job duties.

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in all plant areas and outside the plant which can include heights up to 30 ft, working on ladders, confined spaces and catwalks. Exposure to extreme heat and cold, humidity, fumes, gases, odors and dust. Exposure to high noise levels. Work around moving machinery that is electrically and mechanically hazardous. Also work with highly combustible or potentially explosive equipment.

  • Comfortable wearing Post Consumer Brands' uniform and required PPE including but not limited to: bump-cap, hair net, beard net, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes, etc.

  • Performs all other miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirements may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Minnesota Class A Master Electrician license

  • Knowledge of food production machinery operation and maintenance is desired.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five years of experience in plant and production equipment maintenance including mechanical, electrical, and electronic repair.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

  • Ability to read industrial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.

  • Knowledge of plant electrical systems, and the capability of planning additions and modifications to these systems.

  • Ability to maintain motors, motor control centers, generators, transformers, feeder panels, heating and lighting equipment and circuit breakers.

  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and PLC’s.

  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test 1000 volt and below electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.

  • Knowledge in electronics, PLCs and Networks.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.

  • Ability to train Staff and Maintenance Personnel on proper electrical work procedures.

  • Good communication skills with a focus on customer service.

PAY RATE: $32.00 - $36.00/hour + competitive benefits & incentives package and opportunities for overtime.
