We are searching for a Mechanical Inspector for our Power Distribution - Philadelphia location.

Under general guidance of supervisor, you will lay out, set up, and perform a wide variety of floor and bench inspection operations on all types of materials, parts, sub-assemblies and products.

You will demonstrate success by:

  • Inspecting at any stage of manufacturing as assigned, such as receiving, cut-off, layout, first-piece, parts production, sheet metal, welding, sub-assembly, heat-treating, finish, final assembly, etc.

  • Setting up inspection equipment for use by others, when required, and instructing them in its use

  • Making exacting, close tolerance measurements using precision instruments, gauges, surface plate, optical comparator, indicators, gauge blocks, sine bar, rotary table, hardness tester, and special measuring devices

  • Maintaining records for all inspections per the applicable procedures

  • Checking items for surface and mechanical operating feature

  • Inspecting electrical / electronic assemblies, including Circuit Boards and Components; IPC-A610 experience or certification is a plus

  • Using provided drawings, methods sheets, applicable procedures and specified standards and make necessary calculations

  • Marking parts and preparing inspection reports in accordance with established procedures

  • Maintaining required records and charts

  • Recommending inspection techniques for best practices to achieve specified requirements

  • Using personal computer and related interfaces, as required

  • Working with and directing lower-rated employees

  • Detecting drawing errors and referring these and other unusual conditions to supervisor

  • Performing other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 5 Years of experience

  • Preferably, experienced with and/or certified to IPC-610A

  • Preferably, experienced with and/or currently certified to IPC/WHMA-A-620

  • Experience in manufacturing and quality control

  • Strong understanding of quality management systems

  • Technical skills: mechanical and electrical comprehension

  • Overall understanding in all phases of production / quality inspection and receiving inspection

This is a bargaining unit position; therefore, the hourly rate paid is in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The starting base rate is $20.30 hr. with an increase effective after the successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
