The Staff Registered Nurse in Neuroscience Intensive Care, under the direction of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Manger, is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to the critically ill patients at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Currently licensed to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Previous critical care nursing experience preferred or successful completion of approved critical care course within 6 months of employment.
CPR certification. ACLS required within 6 months of employment.
Must be proficient in command of the English language.
Previous Neurology and/or Critical Care experience preferred.
Able to interpret ECG's, hemodynamic profiles, laboratory results.
Able to safely administer medications and provide safe care in a stressful environment.
Able to delegate responsibilities to non-licensed personnel.
Successful completion of approved hospital based Neuroscience nursing course within 3 months of employment.
NIHSS certification required within 3 months of employment and annual maintenance of certification required.
Eight hours of stroke-based or stroke-related education required within first year of employment and a maintenance of eight hours of stroke-based or stroke-related education required annually.
Basic EKG course recommended within first 3 months of employment.
An essential function of this position is to comply with BSHSI Policy (SYS.HR.NUR.001) which requires, as a condition of employment, that all registered nurses with diplomas or associate degrees who apply and are hired after May 1, 2015 complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree within five years of start date.
