The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a child psychiatrist assigned to work in the Faculty Practice Organization at CUIMC. This is a vibrant and growing group practice with opportunities for peer supervision and collaboration in an academic medical center setting. This is a full-time position in an outpatient setting which will include both clinical, as well as administrative and leadership responsibilities. The position will include direct clinical care and applicants are expected to have excellent clinical skills in working with and engaging child and adolescent patients and their families in treatment.
Clinical work will consist mostly of providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatments with children, adolescents and adults. Psychiatrists generally focus on 30-minute visits geared towards med management, but there are opportunities for combined therapy cases as well. The setting requires flexibility, consultative skills, and active collaboration with other providers and team members. Relevant experience includes providing diagnostic psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacologic and short term psychotherapeutic treatments for a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. Working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and communication skills is important.
Candidates will have opportunities to attend case conferences, peer supervision, and Grand Rounds at CUIMC. Candidates will work closely with a clinical team, including other psychiatrists, as well as psychologists/clinical social workers and psychiatric nurse-practitioners. Opportunities may exist for clinical supervision and teaching.
Minimum Degree Required
MD or DO from accredited institution
New York State License Active DEA License Completion of a child fellowship and board certification in child psychiatry (for graduating residents/fellows, Board certification within 6 months of start date is acceptable).
