Summary Description

The Carroll Laboratories, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an Associate Research Scientist in tendon research with special emphasis on tendon biology and biomechanics. The candidate will join our multidisciplinary musculoskeletal research team. Our government funded research projects are focused on musculoskeletal topics such as tendinopathy, enthesis biomechanics, and tissue regeneration. Ongoing research involves in vivo studies of tendon and tendon enthesis pathogenesis and repair. Responsibilities include tendon enthesis biomechanics, tendon enthesis imaging, cell culture, RT-PCR, Western blotting, therapeutic intervention in animal models, and maintaining and propagating mouse colonies.

Potential candidates are expected to have a strong portfolio of scholarly research including peer-reviewed publications, experience with proposal writing, working experience with graduate students, and evidence of independent research funding, preferably from the NIH or other federal organizations.

Highly motivated and creative applicants with excellent organization and communication skills are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD, MD or equivalent academic degree with the relevant field of study. This is a full-time position with Columbia University officer benefits.
