The Columbia University in the Department of Neurology is recruiting a scientist for its Center for Translational and Computational Neuroimmunology (CTCN).
The successful candidate will create a research program that is dedicated to exploring the role of the immune system in neurological disease from a variety of perspectives – molecular biology, cellular biology – leveraging cutting-edge techniques and existing high-dimensional datasets from aging human brains at the CTCN.
Experience with either gene editing techniques or microglial cell purification and manipulation is required, and we are looking for candidates that will lead the development of the next generation of studies generating additional data and translating results into mechanistic and target validation studies. Ideally, candidates will develop extramural research support. Research and the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows are important responsibilities for all departmental faculty.
Minimum Degree Required
MD and/or PhD
Requires training and experience in managing big genetic data sets. Field of specialization is Neuroimmunology, Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. Three years or more as a Postdoctoral Fellow or Scientist.
