Mission for the positionAs Product Manager, you'll be part of the original Leap product team. You'll help define our product management practices, showing us how you discover, prioritize, and ship new platform capabilities in close collaboration with our engineers, product managers, and other internal and external (i.e. customer) stakeholders. You know that scaling up a technology operation means being organized and focused, and helping our teams to do that too.
Key responsibilitiesAt Leap, you'll build a special retail experience for our customers, the adventurous and deserving people who enter our stores. You'll also build a wonderful experience for Leap brands, who trust us to take care of them and the brands they build over years. And you'll consider our employees ? the hard-working, passionate people at Leap who need excellent tools to get their jobs done, in particular our front line sales associates and store managers, who rely on those tools to create exceptional customer experiences.
You'll work closely with our executives and engineers to build simple, scalable products and processes. We're technologists, and we also know that great product design centers around humans. You'll listen to our customers, you'll listen to our partners, and we'll listen to you.
The Leap PlatformIn order to scale, you'll methodically design, build, and improve on the Leap platform. We need clear, stable, reproducible processes and data flows. It's worth spending our time to make internal processes robust and automated, so our teams can focus on growing and improving our business.
What you'll do:
Collaborate with engineers, fellow product managers, executives, and our retail operations team
Participate in the qualification of new brands and the underwriting/evaluation of brand/store location decisions both directly and indirectly via the Platform tools you manage
Prototype, design, and spec great UX for our brand- and internally-facing UI tools
Design, spec, and help execute automated data flows between Leap systems (commerce platform, CRM, ESP, ERP) and our brands (commerce platform, CRM, ESP, ERP)
Prototype and test innovative in-store experiences that meet customer needs and grow our business (in scalable ways)
Prioritize and roll out internal workflows and procedures that meet brand and operational needs
Think broadly about Leap, and how our scale and intelligence will empower future retail innovations
Study the best stores in the world, and seek honest customer feedback on how our stores are operating, and how we could better give them the experience they deserve
Be encouraging, supportive, kind, fun, sensitive, honest, a great teacher, and above all, a great student
Significant professional experience practicing product management with Agile software teams
E-commerce experience, like digital merchandising, integration of commerce systems, and integrating online/offline customer experiences
A deeply analytical approach to research and prioritization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Curiosity, energy, and a sense of humor
In your first month, you'll:
Go to our stores, ask questions, try on products, buy products, return products, and experience being a customer first-hand
Go behind a POS, make a sale, process a return, see the backroom, and experience retail operations first-hand
Meet with members of every single team at Leap, and consider their roles and their biggest challenges
Visit the best and most innovative stores with eyes wide open
Assess our priorities: what we need to take on "now, next, and later"
Communicate constantly with an encouraging, supportive team
