LCMC Health Patient Access Team Lead in New Orleans, Louisiana

General Job Summary

The Patient Access Team Lead is responsible for duties in support of departmental efficiencies which may include: but not limited to performing scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission and admission, reception and discharge functions. Must obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information. Patient Access representatives also must employ proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during and after date of service as well as assist with cross-training and/or support of multiple functions across all patient and payer types.

Acting in a team lead capacity through on-shift assignment, the Patient Access Services Team Leader is responsible for leading the activities that occur during any shift that he/she is assigned to. This will include but not be limited to staff movement to meet patient/provider demand, point-of-service/patient-facing interactions relating to the patient registration and admission process as well as ensure patient satisfaction by consistently representing LCMC professionally while carrying out the responsibilities of the position.

Required Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training

High school diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree or higher, Advanced Certification in a Medical Office Management training program, or CHAM/CHAA certification preferred.

Experience / Skills

6+ years experience in a hospital or medical office setting with basic knowledge of medical terminology and the registration process with a minimum of 2 years experience in a direct patient-facing environment.

(4+ years experience is acceptable with Associate Degree, Advanced Certification in Medical Office Management program and/or CHAM/CHAA certification)

Experience using a variety of computer systems / programs and general data entry. Epic software knowledge/experience is preferred.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and communicating across a variety of levels within the organization

Abilities / Other

Capable of standing and sitting for extended periods of time throughout the day entering data into and accessing data from a computer terminal, at a desk or similar working surface. Capable of lifting files, boxes and other objects up to 15 pounds and moving them. May have periods of extended walking with a Workstation on Wheels to perform registration activities. Occasionally walking, bending and squatting.
