Middletown Express Care has an immediate part-time openingfor a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Certified/Registered MedicalAssistant to join our team. The officeis open Monday – Friday 5:15 pm – 9:00 pm. Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. TheMedical Assistant hired into this position might be expected to be flexiblewith their schedule and cover Glastonbury Express Care within reason.

PrimaryResponsibilities:

  • The Certified/Registered MedicalAssistant supports the Care team and its patients through patient care,clinical and administrative tasks including patient intake, receiving andresponding to patient phone calls, and documenting patient interactions

  • The MA performs duties within theirscope of practice delegated by, and under the supervision of, a provider orphysician

  • Performs EKGs and other officetesting

  • Performs quality control checks onequipment

  • Rooms patients according to policyand procedures, prepares patient for examination

  • Records patient care documentationin the medical record accurately and in a timely manner

  • Coordinates patient care as directedby physicians, company standards and policies

  • Respects patient confidentiality atall times and treats patients with courtesy and respect

  • Organizes exam and treatment rooms,stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments

  • Practices standard infection controlprecautions

  • Telephone andin-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information withoutrequiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledge

  • Carries outstanding orders consistent with ProHealth’ s policies and procedures

  • Schedulestests, treatments and follow-up visits on behalf of patients

  • Performspre-visit preparation to confirm that all needed information is available

  • Informs new andexisting patients/families about how to access information about theirhealthcare team

  • Deliversquality patient service

  • Ensures allpolicy and procedures are followed including infection control, patientconfidentiality and privacy

  • Activelyparticipates in regular team meetingsand quality improvement activities

  • Responsible forconducting outreach to patients identified on monthly clinical performancereports

  • Provideseffective communication with all patients

  • Performs allother related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GEDequivalent

  • Graduate from an accredited MedicalAssistant program

  • CMA or RMA required within 120 daysof hire

  • 1+ years of Medical Assistantexperience

  • Basic computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experienceworking with an electronic health record

  • Knowledgeof medical terminology

  • Knowledgeof ICD - 10 and CPT coding

  • Experiencein a Family primary care setting

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Abilityto lift, push or pull >35 lbs. with assistance

  • Abilityto stand for extended periods of time

  • Abilityto use fine motor skills to operate equipment and / or machinery

  • Abilityto receive and comprehend instructions verbally and / or in writing

  • Abilityto use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving

  • Occasionallyrequires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids

  • Abilityto discriminate shades of color when reading dipstick
