Alene Candles Quality Supervisor - 2nd Shift in New Albany, Ohio

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for 2nd shift. The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads the Quality staff in the day to day quality operations of the facility, develops and maintains standards, databases information and reporting such as defect identification and defect trending, as well as leads efforts to identify root cause and corrective actions for internal quality escapes. Ensures the successful execution of directing resources to significantly improving product quality, departmental performance, and reducing costs.
Performs steps necessary to approve production lots for release to ship including 1st off line burn testing.
Performs tracking and communication of burn approvals for wax and fragrances.
Reviews and communicates approval of burn sheets real time to manufacturing and planning.
Manages a sample process to insure correct labeling information on raw materials, labels, products and containers.
Communicates with manager and vendors to request documentation (standards, certificates of analysis, etc.) and answer questions as needed. (Manager is primary point of communication with customer).
Performs inspections of finished goods as required.
Ensures incoming inspection criteria defined, communicated, and documented. Assists incoming inspection technicians as required.
Provides guidance on quality assurance standards to all departments as required.
Provides day to day oversight and guidance to in process and end of line inspections. Will be involved in data collection and trend reporting.
Keeps track of standards received.
Keeps track of lab samples received.
Trains new Inspection Technicians.
Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures.
Leads and participated in lean and 5S initiatives
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Maintain Quality database and reporting.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science or related discipline
5+ years related experience
2+ years supervisory experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledgeable in statistical process control.
Knowledgeable in the concepts of LEAN Manufacturing and 5S
Excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to do analysis, draw conclusions, makes recommendations.
Previous process industries experience a plus such as food or cosmetics.
