The Boeing Company Accountant in Netherlands, Netherlands
This role contributes to and supports the overall Finance and Accounting operations.
The position primarily supports local accounting and statutory reporting needs. The accountant also supports the timely accounting closing and consolidation process.
The Accountant will report to the Regional Finance Center Senior Manager in Amsterdam (SSG) and will support the Boeing Accounting organizations and Corporate Functions to ensure quality, compliant Boeing Financials and statutory disclosures.
A 12 months fixed term contract will be initially offered to the successful candidate, likely to be turned into permanent depending on candidate’s performance.
Responsibilities: 1. Collaborates with our outsourcing partner to process journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts 2. Evaluates and applies effective internal controls and supports emerging requirements. 3. Effectively interprets and implements specific financial guidelines (Boeing Company Procedures, Policies, US GAAP, statutory, etc.). 4. Works independently and in a team environment. 5. Ensures the accuracy of accounting entries and account reconciliations by recognizing and preventing misrepresentation, concealment, or omission of information. 6. Compiles the annual financial statements and supports external audits. Coordinates information needs and requirements for timely filings. 7. Supports local expense accounting and segregation of cost (allowable, unallowable, etc.). 8. Supports the VAT declaration process as well as any statistical reporting requirements.
Competencies: • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handling both routine and complex accounting duties. • Ability to handle and prepare underlying accounting data in support of statutory audits. • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication. • Flexible and energetic person and ability to work different tasks at the same time. • ERP and accounting systems skills (preferably Oracle version 11 or 12) • Intermediate to advanced computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel. • Self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and ability to work within a time-constrained environment. • Strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communications in English. • Needs to embody most if not all of the following behavioral characteristics: foster diversity and cultural differences, provide an ethical and personal leadership model, embrace personal learning and development, be a team player willing to perform duties occasionally not in job description in support of colleagues, understand customer and business partner collaboration and satisfaction. • Understanding of audit process and ability to work through issues with statutory auditors and tax advisors.
Typical Education and/or Experience: Required: 1) Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from accredited university 2) 3 or more years' related work experience (Bachelor degree) or and typically 1-4 (Master’s degree) or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in multinational global company environment with dealing with monthly accounting close and account reconciliation.
Desired: 1. Experience in aerospace or defense industries. 2. Big 4 or second tier accounting firm background. Prior experience dealing with overseas home office accounting and finance organization
