Position Description

Under the direction of Culinary Management, the Cook I position performs as an informal leader among peer cook positions. The Cook I will assume grill or line responsibilities within the kitchen requiring detail and creativity and will perform responsibilities for food preparation that require a greater level of experience and expertise than Cook II and Cook III. The Cook I will also contribute to Centerplate's (Music City Center Food & Beverage) operational and financial success by following all Centerplate (Music City Center Food & Beverage) culinary standards for sanitation and preparation and by guiding other Culinary staff members to ensure that food product is of the highest quality in. This is a position of administrative authority, for which responsibility and accountability are necessary to direct the food production and presentation to the customers and staff as directed by the Executive Chef.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements: Minimum of 2 years' experience in food preparation in a fast paced environment. Must be able to interact verbally and listen attentively to co-workers and supervisors; ability to follow written and oral direction, work under pressure, and work independently. Culinary degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Starting Salary: $14.00/hr

Metro offers a generous core benefit package to eligible employees who are regularly and consistently working 20 or more hours per week. Insurance and benefit coverage is effective the first of the month after the employee has worked 30 days. Medical: Choice of two plans; Metro pays 75% of premium

Dental: Choice of two plans; Metro pays for single coverage

Basic Life: $50,000 basic term life coverage; Metro pays 100% of premium

Pension: Formula-driven pension; 100% Metro funded; 10 year vesting for new employees

Paid Family Leave: Runs concurrently with time designated as FMLA leave (up to 30 days)

Longevity: Annual bonus beginning after 5 years of service; increases annually up to 20 years

Paid leave: (Full-time employees)
