Position Summary:

Supervises Retail Sales Floor activities to ensure that goals are met. Will serve, at times, as “Supervisor in Charge” of entire facility. Responsible for assuring a high level of guest and donor service. Must ensure that Easter Seals-Goodwill policies and procedures are uniformly enforced and followed. Cross training required in all aspects of Goodwill. Performs duties according to the established Best Practices of ESGW.

  • Conducts regular staff meetings that improve communication with staff, such as daily tool box talks and monthly department meetings

  • Provides superior guest service by handling guest transactions in a timely and courteous manner, and responding to guest complaints/concerns with a sense of urgency to see to their resolution

  • Assures that cash register, transaction, and cash handling procedures are strictly followed and enforced. Corrects any register or transaction errors according to established procedures

  • Operates cash register as required

  • Acknowledges and greets guests who come within 10 feet

  • Ensures consistent use of “Guest Ready” book

  • Follows-up on Store Visit Reports and completes action plans

  • Completes or delegates tasks, as required, to bring store into compliance with “guest service” standards

  • Monitors potential safety hazards, reports them and helps correct them

  • Balance activities to include Management by Walking Around and personally participating in the physical work of the store

  • Ensure retail store and donation areas are organized and clean

  • Assist with Payroll management (i.e.: keeping staff busy doing productive tasks, and/or by asking Team Members to volunteer to go home when business is very slow)

  • Comply with, train staff, and ensure that all policies and procedures outlined in the Retail Associate Policy and Procedure Handbook are consistently enforced

  • Ensures display standards are met. Adhere to established recovery best practices. Daily monitoring of the Push Down & Hanger rules

  • Control inventory by performing rack rolling, maintenance, and stock rotation

  • Conduct weekly sizing review and take appropriate actions to correct problems

  • Ensures timely and accurate completion of paperwork and electronic “forms” in areas which are required of all supervisors and/or in any areas that have been specifically assigned by manager including those related to HR, Safety/Asset Protection and Accounting

  • Completes administrative tasks, which include; accurate daily/weekly/monthly reporting; opening and closing procedures, cash management, and stock on hand reporting

  • May assist with completion of performance logs, and/or performance evaluations

  • Responsible for store performance in the following areas:

    • Retail Sales floor
  • Controllable expenses, such as payroll (Ensure staff stay busy & productive)

  • May assists with preparing evaluations

  • Ensures success by motivating and engaging the team; set the example.

Required Skills

  • Sensitive to guest needs and wishes.

  • Ability to work effectively with people with disabilities or other special needs preferred.

  • Must have computer experience and be competent in internet use and a variety of computer software applications.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, monetary, organizational and decision making skills.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to communicate with staff and guests.

  • Applicant must pass background check.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.

  • Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.

  • Able to lift and carry 20-100 pounds with team lifting or mechanical assistance

  • Able to stand, stoop, bend, or carry for extended periods

  • Able to go up and down steps

  • Able to stand and walk entire shift.

  • Tolerance of extreme changes in temperature and humidity

  • Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends or longer shifts if needed.

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week

Required Experience

  • High School/Equivalent

  • 0-2 years previous experience
