Job Summary:

Bechtel is currently seeking experienced Project Controls Planners/Schedulers for various locations across the United States with experience integrating engineering, construction, and procurements schedules for large scale light-rail, metro and high-speed railway projects. Experiences typically include planning for construction through rural and urban locations, along with active freight lines, bridge construction over navigable waterways, upgrading track and building or rehabilitating bridges, station stops, storage yards, and maintenance shops.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs and/or coordinates collects, verifies, and integrates the work scope for all entities into the total project plan.

  • Establishes the conceptual scope of scheduled studies. Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities and production between the projects.

  • Prepare a project work breakdown structure and plan/schedule which is capable of delivering the project objectives and providing effective project performance measurement and reporting.

  • Establishes milestones for the total project or major portions of the project.

  • Reviews project work activities to ensure support of project milestones. Coordinates the timely, systematic, and complete acquisition of scope definition and related data.

  • Interact and support effective information sharing/collection with all the project stakeholders in an appropriate manner.

  • Monitor and audit contractor plans. Monitor contractor’s planning processes so that they comply with Rail procedure requirements.

  • Input the planning issues into the project’s critical issues risk log. Review planning risks and monitor whether the risk register is updated accordingly.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field with a minimum of 6-9+ years project controls planning experience. Or in lieu of degree must have 12-15+ years of project controls or cost control experience.

  • Must have previous supervisory experience.

  • Experience working on light-rail, metro or high-speed rail systems.

  • Must have expert skill level in planning software i.e., Primavera 6.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Skilled at preparing and presenting complex schedule status and metrics.

  • Ability to work in complex and ambiguous working environments.

  • Passion for innovation and working in high energy teams. Teams can include working directly with the owner, project manager and home office functional managers.

  • Willingness to relocate for short-term and long-term projects.
