job summary:

Position Summary:

Provide a capable, secure, and stable operating system and application services during 2 nd shift work hours with both on premise and cloud instanced virtualization environments to support Business applications and IT services/infrastructure. Provide the last line of support for infrastructure server hardware and software resources. Design, install, configure, support, and test a reliable solution for Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity.

responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Install, maintain, and configure Linux OS on new or existing hardware

  • Manage OS performance by monitoring memory usage, CPU usage, disk usage, and other performance metrics using built in, in house, or third party monitoring tools

  • Manage/Report OS failures by monitoring disk space, run away processes, failed services, software bugs, or other related issues using built in, in house, or third party monitoring tools

  • Open service requests with vendors as needed to resolve failures, crashes, configuration questions or other issues

  • Conduct manual patching and Ansible scheduling tool of patching of OS on a regular basis

  • Coordinate downtime for repairs with Vendors, DCA staff, and Remote members

  • Install, configure, and maintain new and existing services or applications

  • Maintain existing applications and services by upgrading software, troubleshooting problems, executing changes, configuring solutions, and verifying functionality

  • Monitor services for failures and take corrective actions as needed

  • Communicate changes to interested parties

  • Maintain an acceptable level of connectivity for these, and other, services and applications

  • Make routine changes to support the needs of other members, including setting up user accounts, groups, DNS entries, mailboxes, web applications, and many others

  • Design, install, configure, support, and test a reliable solution for disaster recovery and business continuity

  • Maintain, where possible, a constant state of disaster readiness

  • Follow policies and procedures for compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley act by Submitting changes to CM committee and providing technical walk through review from other members

  • Answer, escalate, and help resolve support calls from DCA, Tier 2, Tier 1, IT Members, remote members, and other individuals as needed

  • Participate in weekly on call rotation as scheduled by the supervisor or manager

  • Document system configurations, changes, support solutions, and any other infrastructure related items

Education:

  • 4-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design, computer science or related field and/or equivalent technical experience, plus at least 3 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in information technology focusing in domain specific technologies

  • Proven history of meeting and exceeding performance metrics

  • Project Management experience

  • Understanding and practical experience with ITIL principles and processes
