Position Purpose & Summary

The North American Oils Technical Services and Innovation Leader is responsible for leading the North American technical strategy for Cargill’s oils business with McDonald’s and their suppliers. In addition to McDonald’s this includes our McDonald’s business with parfryers. In addition to leading North American oils strategy the Technical Services and Innovation Leader (NATS&IL) is directly responsible for working with the Global Oils Technical Services and Innovation Leader to advise and align North American strategy with global McDonald’s initiatives. The NATS&IL manages the technical budget for innovation work done with the team at the Cargill Foods Innovation Center and Global Food Research. In addition the TS&IL works directly with McDonald’s North American technical leadership to influence, inform and implement their long term oils strategy.

Principal Accountabilities

30% - Manage new product development, food applications, technical innovation project pipeline, oil management, budget and lead teams assigned to complete these projects for McDonald’s and McDonald supplier businesses

20% - Provide oil category leadership through leading McDonald’s oils technical strategy regionally both inside the customers organization and in Cargill. Lead the development, implementation and validation processes for new frying oil formulations.

20% - Partner and build strategic relationships with McDonald’s, their suppliers and Cargill innovation, supply chain operations and field service teams across multiple Cargill businesses to execute McDonald’s technical oils strategy.

20% - Work with commercial leadership to align innovation and technical plan to commercial goals

10% - Partner with Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory resources to deliver on McDonald’s requirements

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, food science or related scientific field

  • Minimum 3 years experience in customer facing, strategic technical roles

  • Experience in fats and oils technical roles

  • Frying system experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background/expertise in nutrition, agriculture, plant genetics and or breeding

  • Demonstrated industry level thought leadership (speaking, publications, patents, etc.)

  • McDonald’s system experience
